Freedom is a curious thing. It’s something that everyone longs for, yet most of us are quick to lock ourselves up with mental chains of worry, stress, and disbelief.
Not that long ago, I was on a boating trip with my family. Our guide on the trip was an older man; and while he seemed like he was just an old jokester at first, one thing he said really caught my attention:
“Where you’re going, that’s where you are,” he said as we began to one by one exit from our seats in the boat.
At first, I think that most of my family thought it was just a funny joke as we were saying our goodbyes—including myself. Yet as the day went on, I spent more time thinking about that statement, and I realized that he was actually right.
It might be impossible to be at the grocery store while you are at home, but our homes also have groceries in them—most of the time, at least. You might be wanting to go to an extravagant place in search of wonder and adventure, yet the feelings of wonder and adventure are always around every corner of the known and the unknown.
You might be hopping from job to job, hoping to find a chance to live out your purpose in life. Yet even in the most unlikely of places, your purpose will always be present, because it is so deeply part of who you are that it follows you everywhere that you go, like a benevolent shadow.
Next time you are tempted to let doubt and discouragement weigh you down, just know that you are already where you’re hoping to go. You just have to open your eyes to see it.
That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing?
Matthew 6:25 NLT
Por eso les digo que no se preocupen por la vida diaria, si tendrán suficiente alimento y bebida, o suficiente ropa para vestirse. ¿Acaso no es la vida más que la comida y el cuerpo más que la ropa?
